Leaf Collection

Every Fall the streets department will collect loose or bagged leaves at the curb. These bags should be kept separate from trash and recycling; clear bags may be used for this purpose. Please do not mix any other items with leaves. Branches, brush grass and stones will damage the equipment which is very costly to repair and may cause delays in collection. Please avoid placing leaves near storm water catch basins, as we do not want to clog the basins and restrict water flow. Leaf piles should be at least 3 feet from parked vehicles. Do not park on top of leaf piles as that may result in a fire.

Various Recycling Programs

Electronic Recycling Program

The Borough offers an electronic recycling program for residents. We will collect up to 2 televisions, monitors, and printers per year per resident address at no expense to you. Please call Borough Hall at 610-929-8700 to arrange for pickup. The office staff will call to inform you of your scheduled pickup day in advance. The item must be placed at the curb the night before the scheduled pickup date to ensure it is picked up the next morning.

Tire Collections

Laureldale also offers a Tire recycling program for residents. We will collect up to 4 tires per year per resident address. Tires can be with or without rims. Please contact Borough Hall at 610-929-8700 to schedule a pickup. On your scheduled day, please be sure to have the tires at the curb the night before to ensure they are picked up the next morning. No tractor or oversized tires can be accepted.

Waste Oil Collection & Car Batteries

Laureldale Borough has partnered with Life and Liberty Motors for the collection of waste oil and used car batteries. Please contact them at 610-741-6377 to schedule a drop-off.

Flag Collection

Flag Collection will now be available in the appropriate drop boxes. There are 2 drops conveniently located within the borough. Central Fire Company (1409 Park Pl, Laureldale PA 19605) and the Muhlenberg Community Library (3612 Kutztown Rd, Reading PA 19605) are two locations where you may deposit old US flags for proper retirement.

Scrap Metal Recycling

If you have scrap metal or other recyclable items that you would like to have disposed of, please contact Al Correnti at 484-908-3026 to schedule a pickup.

Miscellaneous Disposal of Household Items

Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, aluminum cans/plastic bottles and containers can all be disposed of for free at the Berks County Recycling Center located at 1316 Hilltop Road, Leesport. The Recycling Center is open Tuesdays/Thursdays/ Saturdays from 8am-12pm. Non-Residential Recycling Regulations (Act 101 Recycling Reporting)

Chapter 20-305

Private Recycling Programs. Those properties in the Borough not receiving municipal recycling collection services (non-residential properties, including but not limited to, commercial and industrial properties and institutional properties) shall establish and maintain their own private collection recycling programs of recyclables listed in section 142 herin in accordance with the provisions of this part and Act 101. All such properties shall submit annual reports regarding their recycling programs and shall provide information as requested by the Borough.

312 Penalties. Any person who shall violate any provision of this part shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $600 together with the costs of prosecution.

Brush Drop Off

Brush, Tree, and Shrub Drop Off

Location

Laureldale residents are permitted to use the Muhlenberg Township’s designated drop-off site located at 3105 Reading Crest Ave., right off of Rt. 61 to dispose of yard waste or 3601 Montclare St, Laureldale PA 19605. The first week in April and the first week in October, residents will be offered curbside pick up of yard waste. Curbside pick up can also be requested as needed, please call Borough Hall at 610-929-8700 to schedule pick-up.

Materials Accepted

Tree trimmings or shrubbery 18” in diameter or less and no more than 10’ in length, free from nails, wire etc. Not more than 10’ in length. Tree stumps accepted; root balls must have all dirt/rocks removed. Leaves, garden trimmings, sticks, shrubbery clippings and tree trimmings only (no plastic bags). Sod, dirt & rocks can be dropped off but not ON the main brush pile. Tree Stumps will be accepted, but root balls must have all dirt and rocks removed.

Unaccepted materials

Commercial / Residential trash, grass clippings, pressure treated materials, pallets, lumber, Railroad ties, dirt, paint, construction debris, plastics and metal. No commercial business or landscape company drop-offs, there are no exceptions.

Permitted Facility Users

Residents and property owners of Laureldale Borough by Key Fob which can be obtained by contacting Laureldale Borough Office at 610-929-8700 during business hours. Key fobs are distributed with a $25 security deposit and proof of residency. The deposit will be returned upon return of the Key Fob.

Current Brush Drop Off Hours

Residents who obtain key fobs can drop off at the Muhlenberg site any day of the week 8am-8pm.

The Dominic Manzella Park is located in the 2100 block of Elizabeth Avenue and covers 70 acres.

The Dominic Manzella Park is located in the 2100 block of Elizabeth Avenue and covers 70 acres. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy nature. You will find a pavilion, horseshoes, volleyball and quoits. The playground provides fun for kids of all ages. There is also a large field that would be perfect for flying a kite or playing catch. In the corner of the park, you will also find the Veteran’s Memorial.

The pavilion is available for rent from May through October. In early summer, the Borough hosts an event called Sundaes in the Park. At this event you will find music, food and of course ice cream.

The Laureldale Playground is situated between Rosedale Avenue and Hawthorne Street next to the Rails to Trails. The 3.2-acre area contains a pavilion, playground equipment and a ball field. It is a popular place to enjoy outdoor activities. In the Fall you will find the Borough’s Annual Fall Festival which features, music, food, crafts and much more.
